I am trying to keep a simple log to record my fight with my inherited insomnia.

Breakfast: one non-sugar donuts, half orange
Lunch: green salad with hard boiled egg, bacon and herbal dressing
Dinner: Papa Johns pizza, beef with carrots, and Chinese swash egg soup
Caffeine drink: one cup of coffee (half milk), one cup of tea (all before 10 AM)
Mood: good (though fighting with sleepiness and tiresome all day along)
Sleep on the night before: severely bad (4 hours at most, from 1 to 5, estimated)
wake up at 5 AM but get up around 6:10 AM
exercise: 1 hour walking for about 3 miles (moderate)
reading: non
Job quantity: very mild
time spent on surfing internet: minimum (20 minutes)

special note: need to wear socks when running or working
